Based upon his passion for sustainability, his Austrian background and his experience of working at the Insitute for Wooden Construction at the Technical University of Vienna Mathias was commissioned by a Dutch architect for a research into the perfect material and building method for a hotel within the city centre of Amsterdam to be built rapidly and in an ultra sustainable way.
Research in the Swiss, Finnish, Austrian and German market for innovative building materials led to the use of non-laminated (hence no glue!) massive wooden building material that can be prefabricated and delivered in a ‘just-in-time’ manner on the building site. Cost and construction period were cut down sunbstantially, while avoiding additional fees for agents and the loss of crucial information due to cultural and language barriers.
