‘At home in the landscape’ urban plan (Ansfelden, AT)

On request of the municipality of Ansfelden lehner en gunther architecten designed a extension of their town. The building structure of this planned district is an interpretation of the building structures of the surrounding villages. The sizes of private gardens are limited so the existing landscape can stay intact. The building types are modern versions of types of the typical farms with inner courts, the typical town house and village church tower.

Together with a local Austrian office LEGU was appointed winner of the invited competition Anfelden Süd. The design with the title At home in the landscape of Ansfelden proposes a contemporary village.

The jury talks of a high potential for relations between landscape and buildings and an interesting and innovative development of regional structures on both object and district level, efficiently converted in a spatial concept.
