Mathias Lehner

Mathias Lehner MSc is director at lehner en gunther architecten in Amsterdam and director of Podium voor Architectuur Haarlemmermeer and Schiphol.
He lectured at the TU Delft and at the Academy of Architecture in Maastricht, the Rijks University of Groningen and on symposia in Holland and abroad. He writes on current Architectural issues, like the bulletin published by WSF Flevoland entitled At home in a polder. Being attached to a place.

Born in Austria in 1972 Mathias Lehner studied Architecture at the TU Vienna. After practice in various offices in Austria and Germany he received a Grant by the Austrian government for research on Dutch landscape and experimental housing. He came to The Netherlands in 1996. In 2001 he finished his studies at the TU Delft with an honorable mention.
For Europan 7 he was an analyst. As architect he was attached tot Inside Outside/Petra Blaisse and won first prize for an urban park in Milan. He realized an installation for the exhibition of Architectural office OMA/Rem Koolhaas in Museumpark in Rotterdam. Also, he developed the landscape design for OMA’s television quarter CCTV in Beijing.

As director of the architecture centre Podium Mathias Lehner organizes lectures, symposia, workshops and debates. He contributed to various publications including Decibel City in 2005 on a new approach tot noise pollution around Schiphol airport, Vermittlung Bitte! In 2008 on international exchange of knowledge among architectural centers and Atlas Minor in 2009 on historic, current and future maps of Haarlemmermeer.
