Refurbishment of a monumental residence along the park

For a private commissioner, lehner and gunther architecten designed the refurbishment and extension of a monumental town house at the Oosterpark in Amsterdam. The basement, ground and first floor were changed completely to fulfill the changed wishes and needs of the 60+ owners.

The relationships between park, garden and interior play an important role in this plan. The house offers many surprising look-through.

The rooms are accessed via a generous staircase in the central hall of more than 7 meters height. By playing with the different levels, ceiling heights and widths of the spaces, each room has now its own proportions, fit for the activities the spaces are facilitating.
