Bathroom in Amsterdam

Project type: Realisation
Commissioned by: Private client
Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Date: 2010-2011

The owners of a contemporary house along the park approached LEGU with the question if we could refurbish their bathroom. The design by LEGU brings to the formerly relatively small and low internal space a number of light elements, an illuminated ceiling and various mirrors (like in Adolf Loos’ famous American Bar) to evoke the sensation of  air and spaciousness.

The room is divided into a central empty space illuminated by indirect light and featuring the washing basin and a sitting element. On the sides are a bathing cabin and shower space (with room for storage and apparatuses) respectively.

The design is a combination of classic and modern elements, rounded and straight forms and high-tech and archaic materials like illuminated resin sliding doors and a ‘badstede’ clad in natural wood.
